• Chester A. Stiles, accused of Lewdness of a Child, and other charges, will make a first appearance Wednesday (Oct. 17) at 7:30 a.m. in Courtroom 7A.

    Stiles, the focus of a nationwide manhunt, will appear before Judge Deborah Lippis for an arrest warrant return stemming from a 2004 Lewdness of a Minor charge, and 20 additional counts added Oct. 1, 2007 alledging lewdness, sexual assault, and the use of a child in the production of pornography.

    KLAS-TV will provide television pool coverage outside the courtroom. Media should plan on entering the Regional Justice Center through the south entrance, located at 201 Clark Ave. The building will open 7 a.m. to members of the media.     The Las Vegas Township Justice Court will temporarily recall most outstanding traffic warrants issued by the court beginning this month while the court transitions to a new case management system. In addition, the court will limit issuing traffic warrants on minor traffic offenders through early 2007. However, the court will continue to issue warrants for serious traffic offenses such as DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), and reckless or aggressive driving.   • Warren Jeffs, who made an appearance this morning in the Las Vegas Township Justice Court, waived extradition to Utah and Arizona. Washington County, Utah authorities have 30 days to transfer him to St. George, Utah where he will face two charges of rape as an accomplice. The hearing lasted only a few minutes and Jeffs indicated he wanted to return to face the charges.

  • Warren Steed Jeffs will make an initial appearance on two fugitive warrants out of Utah and Arizona at 9:30 AM Thursday (Aug. 31) in the Las Vegas Justice Court courtroom of James Bixler located on the 7th Floor of the Regional Justice Center at 200 Lewis Avenue in downtown Las Vegas. Jeffs is being held on a no bail hold in the Clark County Detention Center.

  • Clark County Recorder Francis Deane surrendered to the Clark County Detention Center this afternoon prior to making an appearance in the Las Vegas Township Justice Court’s Dept. 7 at 8 a.m. Friday (June 16) morning. She posted bail and was fingerprinted and photographed. Deane was required to surrender prior to making her Friday morning appearance before Judge Karen Bennett-Haron. Deane posted a bond through a local bail bondsman. Judge Bennett-Haron set bail at $20,000 on June 13, 2006.

    Deane has been charged by the Clark County District Attorney with 19 counts alleging misconduct of a public officer, fradulant appropriation of property, theft, offering false instrument for filing of record, and unlawful commissions, personal profit and compensation of public officers.
