• A Clark County Grand Jury has indicted Brian K. Krolikci and Kathryn A. Besser on two counts of Misappropriation and Falsification of Accounts by a Public Officer, two counts of Misappropriation by Treasurer, one count of Principal to the Crime of Misappropriation and Falsification of Accounts by a Public Officer and one count of Principal to the Crime of Misappropriation by Treasurer.

    Krolicki and Besser will appear in the Clark County District Court at 1:30 p.m., Dec. 18 in Courtroom LLA for arraignment.

  • A Clark County Grand Jury this afternoon returned an indictment accusing former University Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Lacy Thomas of 5 counts of theft and 5 counts of mistrust by a public officer.

  • This morning the Clark County Grand Jury announced the indictments of Brian P. Atkinson-Turner and Kathryn T. Ogara on four charges, including child neglect, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, possession of controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    The state alleges that Ogara on August 7, 2007 placed a two-year-old child in a situation where she might have been injured by seating her unrestrained in the front seat of a motor vehicle with an unsecured loaded firearm in the front of the vehicle. In addition, both defendants have been accused of placing the child near loaded firearms, narcotics paraphernalia and near a marijuana growing operation. Further, the state alleges Atkinson-Turner and Ogara set up their house for growing marijuana and conspired to then sell the drug.

    Atkinson-Turner and Ogara next appear for arraignment in the District Court Arraignment Courtroom at 1:30 p.m. on October 17, 2007. The case, 07C237532C, has been assigned to District Court Judge Donald Mosley, Department 14. Bail in the amount of $11,400 for both defendants, which was originally posted in Las Vegas Township Justice Court, was transferred to the District Court case.

  • A Clark County Grand Jury indicted Richard Earl Shepherd on five counts for his alleged involvement in the August 4, 2007 shooting at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino. Shepherd will be arraigned in the District Court on the following counts:

    • Burglary while in possession of a firearm
    • Attempt Murder with use of a deadly weapon
    • Attempt Murder with use of a deadly weapon
    • Attempt Murder with use of a deadly weapon
    • Carrying concealed firearm or other deadly weapon
  • Former Clark County Commissioner Lynette Boggs-McDonald was indicted this morning by a Clark County Grand Jury on four counts consisting of two counts of Offering False Instrument for Filing or Record and two counts of Perjury. The sealed indictment was returned this morning to Chief Judge Kathy A. Hardcastle and the matter was assigned to District Court Department 1, Judge Ken Cory. Judge Hardcastle set arraignment for case number 07-C-236400-C at 9 a.m. on September 5, 2007. Arraignment will take place in the Regional Justice Center’s Lower Level Arraignment Courtroom 1A.

  • A Clark County Grand Jury has indicted Stephen Ressa on multiple counts including Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Attempt Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Battery with Use of a Deadly Weapon Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm, Battery with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Battery By Prisoner.

    The majority of the charges stem from a September 21, 2005 event on the Las Vegas Strip that left three people dead and more than 13 individuals injured when Ressa allegedly ran his car up onto the sidewalk in front of the Bally’s casino. The final charge occurred December 22, 2005 when Ressa allegedly attacked a guard at the Clark County Detention Center. Ressa faces a total of 31 counts, 30 of them related to the September 21 incident on the Strip.

    Ressa is being held on a no-bail bench warrant and makes an appearance in District Court’s Arraignment Court at 10:30 AM August 30, 2006.

  • Chief Judge Kathy Hardcastle unsealed a Clark County Grand Jury indictment this morning charging Dexter Smith Jr and Jamar Lamont Rice with allegedly taking part in a series of violent crimes throughout the Las Vegas Valley on or about April 15, 2006.

    Smith and Rice will next appear in front of Criminal Hearing Master Kevin Williams July 25, 2006 at 10:30 AM for an arraignment.

    The grand jury charged Smith and Rice with the following counts:

    1. Coercion with force or threat of force
    2. Conspiracy to commit battery
    3. Battery with intent to commit a crime
    4. Robbery
    5. Coercion with force of threat of force
    6. Consipiracy to commit battery
    7. Battery with substantial bodily harm

  • A Clark County Grand Jury has indicted James Carter, Jr with the murder of Kyle Staheli. Carter will be arraigned July 12, 2006 on charges of Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Robbery with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping, First Degree Kidnapping with Use of a Deadly Weapon.

    The case was assigned to District Court Judge Lee Gates, Dept. 8. Chief Judge Kathy Hardcastle issued a no bail bench warrant for Carter’s arrest. Carter will be arraigned at 9 a.m. July 12, 2006 in the Lower Level Arraignment courtroom.

  • A court case stemming from a 2002 Harrah’s Laughlin gun battle between two motorcycle clubs returned to court this morning.ÂÂ

    Defendants Rodney Cox, Maurice Eunice, James Hannigan, Dale Leedom, Sohn Regas and Calvin Schaefer all entered not guilty pleas this morning to charges contained in a second superceding indictment in District Court Dept. 17, Judge Michael Cherry.

    Defendants Donahue, Fredrick D and Foakes, Raymond were not present. All are alleged members of the Hell’s Angels motocycle gang.

    Judge Michael Cherry continued the matter to July 28, 2006 to allow Foakes to appear in court.
