Richard Earl Shepherd Indictment

A Clark County Grand Jury indicted Richard Earl Shepherd on five counts for his alleged involvement in the August 4, 2007 shooting at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino. Shepherd will be arraigned in the District Court on the following counts:
- Burglary while in possession of a firearm
- Attempt Murder with use of a deadly weapon
- Attempt Murder with use of a deadly weapon
- Attempt Murder with use of a deadly weapon
- Carrying concealed firearm or other deadly weapon
Lynette Boggs-McDonald Indicted

Former Clark County Commissioner Lynette Boggs-McDonald was indicted this morning by a Clark County Grand Jury on four counts consisting of two counts of Offering False Instrument for Filing or Record and two counts of Perjury. The sealed indictment was returned this morning to Chief Judge Kathy A. Hardcastle and the matter was assigned to District Court Department 1, Judge Ken Cory. Judge Hardcastle set arraignment for case number 07-C-236400-C at 9 a.m. on September 5, 2007. Arraignment will take place in the Regional Justice Center’s Lower Level Arraignment Courtroom 1A.
Martino and Reeves Bound Over for Trial

Defendants Richard Martino and Brandi Reeves, accused of murder in the death of 3-year-old Zander Martino, were bound over for trial today by Justice of the Peace Nancy Oesterle. Reeves faces a charge of Second Degree Murder, while Martino faces a charge of Murder by Child Abuse. Both defendants will be arraigned in the District Court at 1:30 p.m. on September 10, 2007 in the Arraignment Court located on the lower level of the Regional Justice Center.
Investiture Ceremony For Judge Elissa F. Cadish

WHAT:   Investiture ceremony for newly appointed District Court Judge
Elissa F. Cadish.
WHEN:   3:30 p.m., Friday (August 24).
WHERE:   Clark County Government Center, Commission Chambers, 500 Grand Central Parkway.
EVENT:   During this ceremony, Judge Cadish will formally be administered the oath of office and will receive her judicial robes. Members of the judiciary, including the Nevada Supreme Court and the Eighth Judicial District Court, will attend the ceremony. Judge Cadish will make formal comments. A reception will follow the ceremony in the Clark County Community Room.

Verdict Reached in State v. Zana

A Clark County Jury returned a mixed verdict today (Aug. 13) in State v. Zana finding defendant Mark Zana not guilty on 11 of 21 counts. The jury returned 10 guilty verdicts in the case. Zana was found guilty on four counts of Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of Fourteen and six counts of Possession of Visual Presentation Depicting Sexual Conduct of a Person Under the Age of Sixteen.
The jury acquitted Zana on five counts of Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of Fourteen and six counts of Possession of Visual Presentation Depicting Sexual Conduct of a Person Under the Age of Sixteen.
Sentencing has been scheduled at 8:30 a.m., October 4, 2007, in District Court Department 5.
