Gloria Guzman reached a plea agreement with prosecutors this morning ending her trial prior to a verdict. Guzman agreed to plead guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter. She had been charged with murder following the death of her ex-husband Mark Richards. Guzman entered an Alford plea, which allows her not to admit the act and assert her innocence. However, under Alford, Guzman admits that sufficient evidence exists in the case that the prosecution could likely convince a judge or jury to find her guilty. Guzman faces a September 28, 2006 sentencing hearing before Judge Michael Cherry.
