This afternoon Judge Nancy Saitta denied defense motions in a Writ of Habeas Corpus aimed at reducing or dropping the criminal charges in the case, with the exception of one charge. The judge reduced the Consipiracy charge (Count 1) in the indictment from a felony to a gross misdemeanor. She also amended the coercion charge in the indictment to strike the phrase “could not escape the beating”.
All of the charges remain and the defendants will face an October trial date.
