State v. Terrell Young

Judge Nancy Saitta sentenced Terrell Young this morning to Life in Prison Without the Possibility of Parole for the kidnapping of four young men in 1998. Young was convicted by a jury this past June of kidnapping and murdering 20-year-old Tracey Gorringe, 20-year-old Peter Talamantez, 19-year-old Matthew Mowen and 19-year-old Jeffrey Biddle.

State v. Sylvia Rede

Sylvia Rede appeared before Justice of the Peace Ann Zimmerman this morning for a felony arraingment in the Justice Court. Rede was apprised that the state had charged her with two counts of Child Endangerment, which are gross misdemeanors.
Judge Zimmerman scheduled an Aug. 15 Preliminary Hearing for 9 AM.

Judge Michelle Leavitt denied defendant’s Motion for Writ of Habeas Corpus this morning after a hearing that lasted approximately one hour. Trial date as follows: Pre-trial March 3, 2007, Trial March 12, 2007.

Chief Judge Kathy Hardcastle unsealed a Clark County Grand Jury indictment this morning charging Dexter Smith Jr and Jamar Lamont Rice with allegedly taking part in a series of violent crimes throughout the Las Vegas Valley on or about April 15, 2006.

Susan Aguilar appeared in front of District Court Judge Stewart Bell this morning to be sentenced on a charge of Voluntary Manslaughter with Use of a Deadly Weapon, a class B Felony.  Judge Bell sentenced Aguilar to a sentence of 2-10 years in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
