• Grand Jury, High Profile 17.05.2006

The Clark County Grand Jury issued an indictment today against the following individuals:

Jeremiah Ayala and Amrin Ruth Ansley were charged with Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Murder (Open), Child Abuse with Substantial Bodily Harm and Child Neglect with Substantial Bodily Harm in connection with the death of 18-month-old Brodie Ansley. (See Case # 06-C-222366-C).

These charges upgrade the State’s case against Ansley from Second Degree Murder By Child Neglect to Open Murder. In addition, the Grand Jury added the Deadly Weapon clause to the Murder charge against Ayala. The District Attorney has the option to seek a consolodation of the cases or dismiss the previous case (06-C-221185-C).

Ansley and Ayala appear in District Court Dept. 2 tomorrow (May 18) at 9 a.m.

What is the best way to follow this case? I know that the trial was scheduled for June 2006, but has that changed with the upgrade in charges?

The reason I ask and the reason I have an interest in this case: In June 2003, I met Amrin Ansley in Tuscon, AZ. She and Thomas Ansley (Brodie’s biological father) were living with a friend of mine Tuscon. Amrin and Thomas were not married at the time, nor did they have Brodie. When I heard of this case, I was sickened. I do remember having an immediate dislike for Amrin when I met her in 2003. At the time, I could not identify the reason for my dislike … I just knew that she was not a good person. My first impressions and gut instincts are usually spot on. Personally, I believe in capital punishment, but especially for those who kill children. I am anxious to see both Amrin Ansley and Jeremiah Ayala found guilt and sentenced to death.

It has been a month since I wrote to the blog asking how to follow the Ansley case. Is this lvcourtsblog.com the best way? Does anyone know if the trial has begun on Ansley and Ayala? Will they be tried separately?

My husband and I have known Thomas Ansley (Brodie’s father) for many years. I’ve known Amrin since the begining of 2003 when Thomas and Amrin first started dating. My husband and I were like family to Thomas and Brodie. We also live in Tucson, and have been trying to follow up on this. We just want justice for Brodie. A couple times a week we do a search on the internet for Amrin and Jeremiah, just to see if there’s anything new that has been posted.

Is this a big story that will be in all of the newspapers in Las Vegas? Is there any other way for people who knew Brodie in Tucson to follow the case closely?
On a side note, I never got along with Amrin. I always told Thomas, that there’s something about her that didn’t sit right with me.
