• Acting District Court Chief Judge Lee Gates unsealed a superseeding indictment this morning (March 31) accusing Gladys Perez and Marc Anthony Colon with Murder (Open), Child Abuse and Child Neglect. This new indictment replaces the charging document that was returned last week by the Clark County Grand Jury. Both defendants will enter a plea in the District Court at 10:30 a.m. April 5 in the Arraignment Court.

    Judge Gates set bail for Perez at $550,000 and Colon at $2,100,000.

  • Defendant Craig Titus responded “100-percent not guilty,” when District Court Judge Jackie Glass asked him to enter a plea to charges of Murder, with use of a Deadly Weapon, First Degree Kidnapping and Third Degree Arson in connection with the death of Melissa James.
    Titus’ wife Kelly Ryan also entered a plea of not guilty to the same charges.

    Defendant Anthony Gross entered a plea of not guilty to the charges of Accessory to Murder and Third Degree Arson.

    A trial date of January 22, 2007 was set for all defendants in front of Judge Glass in Dept. 5 of the Eighth Judicial District Court. Case Number: 06-C-220719-C.

  • The preliminary hearing for Marc Anthony Colon was continued this morning to April 13, 2006 before Justice of the Peace Karen Bennett-Haron. The District Attorney’s Office indicated it was attempting to obtain an indictment from the Clark County Grand Jury. If an indictment is obtained the preliminary hearing date will be vacated. Co-defendant Gladys Perez was indicted by the Grand Jury last week and a trial date of August 22 was set before District Court Judge Michelle Leavitt.

  • Gladys Perez, accused of First Degree Murder by Child Abuse, in connection with the death of 3-year-old Chrystal Figueroa, pled not guilty today (March 29) in District Court. Hearing Master Kevin Williams set a trial date of August 22 in the courtroom of Judge Michelle Leavitt.

    Perez remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.

  • Clark County District Court Judge David Wall unsealed a Clark County Grand Jury indictment this morning charging Gladys Perez with murder in the death of her three-year-old daughter Crystal Figueroa.

    Known for nearly six weeks as Jane “Cordova” Doe, the toddler was found dead in a garbage can January 12, 2006. She was recognized by her maternal grandmother following a nationwide search seeking the child’s identity. This tip led police to suspect Perez and her boyfriend Marc Anthony Colon for the child’s death.

    Perez will be arraigned in the District Court’s Arraignment Court at 10:30 a.m. on March 29, 2006.

  • This morning Clark County District Court Judge David Wall unsealed a Clark County Grand Jury indictment naming Craig Titus, Kelly Ryan and Anthony Gross as defendants in connection with the death of Melissa James. Judge Wall ordered that Titus and Ryan continue to be held in the Clark County Detention Center with no bail. Gross remains out of jail confined to house arrest.

    Titus and Ryan have been charged with Murder, with use of a Deadly Weapon, First Degree Kidnapping and Third Degree Arson. Gross has been charged with Accessory to Murder and Third Degree Arson.

    Arraignment for all defendants has been scheduled for 9 a.m. March 29, 2006 in the District Court Arraignment Courtroom (1A Lower Level, Regional Justice Center). The case was assigned to Judge Jackie Glass. Case Number: 06-C-220719-C.

  • Joshua Nichols, the son of Terry Nichols, was found not guilty of Attempt Murder, and guilty of five other counts, today in the courtroom of District Court Judge Joe Bonaventure. Nichols will be sentenced April 26, 2006.

  • Justice of the Peace Doug Smith released Joshua Michael Corcran on his own recognizance (O.R. release) with the condition that he serve house arrest and relinquish his drivers license. A May 22 preliminary hearing date was set.

    Corcran reported this morning to the Clark County Detention Center for processing. His house arrest begins immediately. Corcran has been charged with 5 counts of Reckless Driving and 4 counts of Involuntary Manslaughter.

  • A criminal complaint was filed today (March 20) by the Clark County District Attorney charging Joshua Michael Corcran with Reckless Driving and Involuntary Manslaughter in connection with the February 19 traffic accident that caused the deaths of Victor De La Cruz-De Leon, Reymunda Lopez-Vazquez, Jose Manuel Lopez-Sanchez and Jose Roberto Mejia Lang. Another passenger, Cecilia Cruz, was injured in the accident.

    Corcran has been charged with 5 counts of Reckless Driving and 4 counts of Involuntary Manslaughter. An Arrest Warrant was issued this morning (March 20) by Justice of the Peace Joe M. Bonaventure. Corcran is scheduled to make an appearance tomorrow (March 21) at 8 a.m. in Justice Court Dept. 3, Judge Tony L. Abbatangelo.

  • The hearing for State v. Titus/Ryan scheduled for Monday, March 20, has been continued until March 29 at 1 p.m. in Las Vegas Justice Court Dept. 9.

    The hearing will consider the Defendant’s Motion to suppress recorded statements made by Titus and Ryan on December 24, 2005 in Massachusetts.
